Entry sheet up on Noticeboard (£15 entry fee).
Members note that the Entry Sheet for the Andrew Hunter Competition at Portpatrick is up on the Noticeboard in the Abbotsford. Members have priority however if there is space playing guests are welcome provided they are advised to the Committee beforehand.
Dear Members The sheet for the trip to Portpatrick will go up next week and we’d be obliged if you could enter your name if going – as soon as possible. The course is booked and so is a nice bus to whisk you away for a day’s excellent golf.
Abbotsford played their first scratch team away to Crosshouse at Annanhill in Kilmarnock. Craig Robertson, Rab Adams, Ben Cooney and Tom Hanns played a new format of two singles and one doubles. In a close fought dreich evening Crosshouse narrowly defeated us 2-1 and move on to play Turnberry in the next round. The handicap team are at home to Turnberry, Friday 27th so we wish them well in their matches over our home course.
Members are reminded that the Annual Prizegiving and Dinner is on Saturday 14th November at 7:30 p.m. at the Abbotsford Hotel. Tickets are £23 and can be purchased from the bar. Can Members please buy their tickets as soon as possible to help the Hotel confirm numbers.
Thanks to those who attended the AGM on Sunday 22nd November. The main outcomes were: No change to subscriptions for 2016 Members voted in favour of the Motion to have the first round of the Matchplay and Singles knockout played on a chosen Saturday, followed by a sociable in the Abbotsford Hotel. A decision on a change to the prize format would be made by Committee All those present gave thanks to Chalmers Thomson for his time as Honorary Treasurer for the Club; thanks again Chalmers!
Tickets will be available soon for the Prizegiving Night dinner on Saturday 14th November. We’ve held the price at £23 which will also include wine with the 3 course meal. So please come along (even if you haven’t won anything!) and support the night. Oh..and Comp Sec has circulated a reminder for those with trophies to return them nice and polished by 24th October in order that we can get them engraved.
Autumn already?…must be time for a Texas Scramble…and a curry Members are invited to put their name down for a Texas Scramble to be played at Seafield on the afternoon of Saturday 24th October. Following the game, the Abbotsford Hotel will serve up a lovely, warming curry…lamb bhuna or chicken balti… Sheet up this weekend and entry only £5!! Only 16 places!!!
