Extract from recent Golf Monthly article: Golf’s governing bodies, the R&A and USGA, have announced that a new ‘World Handicap System’ is set to come in to play for 2020. Instead of handing in three cards like we do here in the UK, a handicap can be generated from 54-holes of different combinations to include nine hole scores as well as standard 18 hole scores. The new World Handicap System also mirrors CONGU’s recent changes to allow golfers can have a handicap of up to 54. At Abbotsford Golf Club our aim is to promote golf, giving our members the best experience of playing competitions all year round over a variety of stunning courses throughout South Ayrshire. Belleisle Park is our home course. We regularly visit other courses such as Seafield, Troon Lochgreen and Girvan for competitions/social events. This year in 2017 our aim is to give special emphasis to our ‘5’ majors increasing their already competitive nature and to include social gatherings before and after competitions. Once again we will be proudly entering the Ayrshire Scratch League, a fantastic team event for all our talented golfers. My best wishes to all our participants in our many medals/knockout/winter & summer league/match play/Stableford and fun events. Enjoy, play well Eric Armour Captain
As the weekend winter league nears a conclusion, here are the main runners/ riders as of 11/12 Feb. Special mention to Ronnie Davidson who has blitzed Seafield, one to watch next year. WWL 2017

Congratulations also to Dave Kendal who won the singles over Mr Hunter) and the Watson/ Robertson combo who triumphed in the doubles.
Well done and congratulations to Rab Adams who has defended his Docherty Cup title in superb fashion. The summer eclectic has been won by Der Eclecticmeister, Jim Hunter. Well done to both.
